Areas we are currently recruiting for:
Accountants/General Managers
Generalist mangers and qualified Accountants are needed, mainly in regional and remote WA Local Governments.
Applicants with previous experience in a comprehensive range of managerial and/or accountancy tasks will be highly regarded. Preferred applicants will have an undersatnding of budgeting and cost allocation processes, management reporting, managing cash flow and review of business processes.
Building Surveyors
Building Surveyors with relevant experience in the building industry, in private/public sector building practices and procedures, or in local government statutory and non-statutory requirements are needed. Positions involve inspecting building work, assessing and determining building submissions and preparing reports for Council Meetings.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate practical experience and ability to direct contractors/builders on site.
Civil Engineers
Qualified and experienced Engineers are in demand. People with a sound knowledge of engineering design procedures relating to road, streetscapes and drainage are sought for a number of Local Government positions.
Familiarity with drafting, computer aided design software; traffic analysis and sound knowledge of the industry are valued.
Environmental Health Officers
Environmental Health Officers have the opportunity to work across the full range of interests and involvement, from issues such as environmental protection (air, water, soil, industry) to pest control, noise monitoring, waste management and recycling.
Preferred applicants will have previous experience in a comprehensive range of environmental health tasks, including development and implementation of waste management strategies, evaluation and recommendations on noise impacts from major projects and developments.
Operational Works
People who have experience in operating a grader, backhoe, loader or are licensed to drive a truck are required in many Local Governments.
A trade qualification such as a mechanic would also make an applicant desirable for employment in the industry.
Urban and Regional Town Planners
Planners with qualifications in Town (Urban) and Regional Planning or similar are being sought by Local Governments. In growth areas such as the outer metropolitan areas there is high demand for Planners interested in developing their expertise. In regional areas and the inner suburbs, Planners have the opportunity to gain first hand experience in extensive community consultation, negotiation and design of new or rejuvenating communities.
Planners with a sound knowledge of the planning and development industry are highly sought after.
Rates Officer/Payroll Officer
We are currently seeking people with experience in the roles of Rates Officer or as a Payroll Officer. Whilst Local Government experience is preferred it is NOT essential. There is currently a position available with a Western Suburbs Local Government, but we are also seeking suitable applicants who are interested in a career in Local Government in the future.
Governance and Compliance positions
Several Local Governments are currently seeking Governance and Compliance Officers or consultants to provide support to Elected Members, Executive Managers and Staff generally . The purpose of these positions is to ensure that Council operations and functions comply with relevant statutes, in particular the Local Government Act (1995). Candidates must possess proficiency in legislation which operates within the Local Government environment and be able to review and adapt policies to meet community needs. Positions are available on a permanent or contract basis.
