Workplace Solutions Human Resources Seminar 2011 (14/2011)

Running parallel to the 2011 Local Government Convention being held from 4-6 August, WALGA will be presenting several seminars designed for Local Government employees that are involved in policy development, Human Resources, Emergency and Risk Management, Technology, Health or Governance.

Local Government Workplace Solutions will once again be holding its annual Human Resource Seminar of which all Local Government employees involved in HR are encouraged to attend.  The special guest speaker in 2011 will be the eminent Professor Andrew Stewart from the University of Adelaide. 

This specially designed seminar will be an opportunity to network and learn from the professional team within Local Government Workplace Solutions and expert guest speakers.  The all day seminar will be held on Thursday 4th August which includes an exciting rundown of:

  • “Lost” Jurisdiction dilemma for Local Government in WA: an update on the current ‘state of play’ in the changes facing Local Governments across the state.  This will be presented by special guest speaker Professor Andrew Stewart from the University of Adelaide.
  • The advent of a harmonized national OH&S system into a WA context and the impact on Local Governments.
  • Local Government reform discussed by the CEO of the Shire of Mundaring, Jonathon Throssell from the HR & Change Management Working Group.
  • A Workshop presented by Workplace Solutions’ own Alasdair Malloch-Smith and Scott Roffey around the interaction between workers compensation, rehabilitation and performance management.
  • And finally a discussion on Emergency Management focussed on the bush fires in Armadale and including Emergency Management Coordinator, John Lane.
